Dr. Kristy D. Bruse is a Safety Pharmacology Expert Consultant with Paracelsus, Inc. and is strategically located in the upper Midwest (Madison, Wisconsin). She was the Safety Pharmacology Section Leader at Hoffmann-La Roche in Nutley, NJ, a study director for Safety Pharmacology at Covance and WIL Research Laboratories, Inc., and has been involved in industry, academia and veterinary medicine since 1977. She has been an active member of the Safety Pharmacology Society since 2001 and is currently the Vice President. Dr. Bruse has a strong belief that Safety Pharmacology is an integral component in the drug development process. Better identification of lead compounds and quality safety assessment will only increase the success rate of the biotech and pharmaceutical companies as well as provide safe and effective drugs for patients. As a member of the Safety Pharmacology Society, she brings with her experience and enthusiasm for pharmacology and physiology. 


Dr. Bruse received her Ph.D. degree in Pharmacology and Toxicology at the Medical College of Virginia-Virginia Commonwealth University in 1996, her M.S. degree in Biology from Southwest Missouri State University in 1986, and her B.S. degree in Biology from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 1982. She completed a post-doctoral fellowship in gene therapy and molecular biology at the University of Iowa and has extensive teaching experience including teaching full courses in physiology and renal function.

Dr. Bruse has several publications and has received 13 awards in her research career including: “Achievement of Excellence Award” from Syntex Pharmaceuticals in 1991, the Ambrose Departmental Award for the Best Rising 3rd Year Student Outstanding Research in the Dept. of Pharmacology and Toxicology at MCV in 1996, “Leadership Award” from Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges in 1996, the Merck Young Investigators Award from the American Heart Association, Council of High Blood Pressure Research in 2001, and the D2K Award in December 2004 from Hoffmann-La Roche, Inc.
